Young men who acquire their knowledge of sex by watching pornography may have false expectations when it comes to real life partners.
Psychologists Sara Gutierres and Douglas Kenrick, at Arizona State University conducted a study to find out the reactions of men to beautiful women for the last two decades. They came to a conclusion that when men view images of beautiful women both naked and fully clothed, they tend to expect the same from the real life partners.
The previous study conducted in the 70's showed that men who were offered to watch an episode of Charlie's Angels before evaluating the photos of potential blind dates were more critical of their potential dates than those who watched a different movie.
Psychologists warn that the abundance of Internet pornography, men did not become hornier, but they become pickier having unrealistic expectations from their partners.
The other problem is that more young women, who compare themselves with the pornography pictures often tend to lower their sexual value and self-esteem. They often claim that they cannot measure up and are afraid of losing a man if they do not offer what pornography shows.
On the other hand, young men who learn about sex from pornography may find it difficult to build relationships with real women as most of them derive a mistaken imagery. Loneliness and lack of social skills to maintain relationships with the opposite sex is often a result of this inability to distinguish the reality from the pornographic image.
